After an 8-month run, the Mexican production of Kiss of the Spider Woman will close on June 29. The reason of the unexpected closing is that the star of the show, Christian Bach, and the director of the show, Humberto Zurita (Bach´s husband) are leaving TELEVISA, which is the Mexican broadcasting company that is producing the show. Bach and Zurita signed a new contract with another broadcasting company, TV AZTECA. TELEVISA does not allow people from TV AZTECA to work in their productions.

The producers can´t replace the leading actress because she and her husband hold the rights for the musical. TELEVISA declared that they are not interested in an agreement for the rights of the show. Bach expressed her concern regarding the closing of the show, "it is very hard to make a hit these days, and this show was a hit", she said to a local newspaper.
