Audiences taken with Whistle Down The Wind in Washington DC will have to rely on whistling the tunes in order to hear them again -- at least until spring 1997. Though Andrew Lloyd Webber pioneered the idea of releasing a cast recording by -- or even before -- a show's opening, Whistle will not record its DC cast, due to scheduling difficulties. The show closes in DC Feb. 9, with NY rehearsals beginning in March.
According to company manager Amy Jacobs, the target date for a cast recording of Whistle is Spring 1997, to coincide with, though not preceed, the musical's opening on Broadway. The same cast is expected to be in place.
