Kirk, an Obie Award winner for Love! Valour! Compassion!, previously appeared in Baitz's Ten Unknowns for Lincoln Center Theater. He is scheduled to join the cast of Other Desert Cities Jan. 10, 2012.

Kirk's stage credits also include The Understudy, Old Wicked Songs, Any Given Day and The World Over. He also starred as Prior Walter in Mike Nichols' HBO adaptation of Angels in America.

Sadoski (Reasons to Be Pretty), who originated the role of Trip in Other Desert Cities Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater last winter, previously told Playbill.com that he would exit the Broadway production of the play Jan. 8, 2012, to be part of the new Aaron Sorkin HBO drama series "The Newsroom."

Prior to his departure, Sadoski will take a hiatus from Other Desert Cities to begin filming "The Newsroom" Dec. 5-25. He will return to the production for two weeks beginning Dec. 27 to conclude his run. Understudy Matthew Risch, who co-starred with Other Desert Cities leading lady Stockard Channing in the Broadway revival of Pal Joey, will step in for Sadoski during the December dates.

Other Desert Cities was originally scheduled to close Jan. 8, 2012, but critical raves and strong box-office sales prompted Lincoln Center Theater to extend the production into an open-ended run. The remainder of the original Broadway cast will continue with the production. The cast of Other Desert Cities also features Tony Award winner Stockard Channing (Six Degrees of Separation, The House of Blue Leaves) as matriarch Polly Wyeth, Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach (Indians, "Hemingway") as Lyman Wyeth, Tony nominee Judith Light (Lombardi, "Ugly Betty") as Silda Grauman and Rachel Griffiths ("Brothers & Sisters") in her Broadway debut as Brooke Wyeth.

Here's how LCT bills the play: "In Other Desert Cities Brooke Wyeth (Griffiths), a once promising novelist, returns home after a six year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents, former members of the Reagan inner-circle (Channing and Keach), her brother (Sadoski) and her aunt (Light). When Brooke announces that she is about to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil and the Wyeths are both bound together and torn apart as they struggle to come to terms with their past."
