Schwartz, who also staged the 2001 Off-Broadway premiere of the musical, directs the Westport production. The discussion with Schwartz will follow the 3 PM matinee on June 28.
"I'm excited to host this conversation between our audience and Scott Schwartz, and to benefit from his unique insight into this material," said Westport associate artistic director David Kennedy in a statement. "Scott led the creative team that assembled the definitive version from the many manuscripts Jonathan Larson left behind. And his passion for this musical is unrivaled. I can't think of a better resource on the subject of tick, tick…BOOM!"
The Westport engagement of tick, tick...BOOM!, which runs June 23-July 18, features Wilson Cruz ("My So-Called Life," Rent) as Michael, Colin Hanlon (Rent, Pirates of Penzance, I Love You Because) as Jon and Pearl Sun (Happiness, Walmartopia) as Susan.
The production is described as "a captivating American musical about a young artist on the verge in New York City."
Also collaborating on the Westport production are Charles Czarnecki (musical director), Tony nominee Christopher Gattelli (choreographer), David Farley (scenic design), Ilona Somogyi (costume design), Herrick Goldman (lighting design) and Jon Weston (sound design).
