The Classic Stage Company revival of Shakespeare’s As You Like It, featuring an original Jazz Era-inspired score by Wicked and Pippin composer Stephen Schwartz, officially opened Off-Broadway September 28.
Tony Award winner and CSC Artistic Director John Doyle helms the 100-minute adaptation that premiered at Bay Street Theater in August. As is tradition with many of Doyle's stagings, members of the cast also play instruments.
The cast is headed by Oscar, Emmy, and Tony winner Ellen Burstyn as Jacques, Olivier nominee Kyle Scatliffe as Orlando, and Tony nominee André De Shields as Touchstone, with Hannah Cabell as Rosalind, Quincy Tyler Bernstine as Celia, Noah Brody as Oliver/Corin, Leenya Rideout as Phoebe, Tony nominee Bob Stillman as Duke Frederick/Duke Sr., Cass Morgan as Old Adam/Audrey, and David Samuel as Silvius.
