BroadwayHD has brought numerous titles from the stage to the screen in live presentations, including She Loves Me, Holiday Inn, and—most recently—Off-Broadway’s Ernest Shackleton Loves Me. The streaming service has released a documentary short highlighting the creative process of capturing the live nature of theatre.

The video highlights the development of BroadwayHD’s streams, from the early planning stages, to TV director David Horn developing a shooting script, to maintaining the intention and integrity of the production.

“There’s a certain sense that you are there, and there’s something very real…that they are performing for you that makes it really exciting,” says BroadwayHD co-founder Stewart F. Lane.

Co-founder Bonnie Comley likens the experience to to watching a game: “You can go to a football stadium and experience a football game, or you can watch it on TV. Totally different experiences, and both are awesome.”
