Playwright Mark Nassar's The Mayor's Limo, the story of a homeless man arrested for unknowingly urinating on the mayor's limousine at a demonstration, makes its New York premiere in Off-Broadway previews starting Sept. 17.

Joe Corcoran, producer of the interactive theatrical sensation, Tony N' Tina's Wedding, is co producing the staging of the play, set in a Lower East Side police precinct.

"Once the politicians, the media and the homeless advocates get involved, the homeless man becomes the unwilling prize in a social and political tug-of-war," according to production notes. The work had a previous staging on the West Coast.

Playwright Nassar co-created Tony N' Tina's Wedding and originated the role of bridegroom Tony. The actor-writer wrote The Mayor's Limo after learning a friend who had lost his parents and brother in a fire became a self-destructive homeless man.

Santo Fazio directs a cast that includes Sharon Angela ("The Sopranos"), Kevin Alexander, Patrick Michael Buckley, James J. Hendricks, Michael Perri, Robert Stevens, Rebecca Weitman and James Wormworth. Corcoran is co-producing with Steve Domber. Opening is Sept. 25 at the Kraine Theatre, 85 E. Fourth Street, between Second and Third avenues, in the East Village of Manhattan.

Designers are Tim Hooper (set) and Rocio Matosas (lighting).
