The cast and creative team of the Broadway-bound Pretty Woman musical met with the press January 22 to chat about the show, the new songs, and how the classic love story is being re-imagined for today’s audience.

Watch the video above, featuring two-time Tony Award-winning director-choreographer Jerry Mitchell, stars Samantha Barks (Vivian), Steve Kazee (Edward), Orfeh (Kit), and Eric Anderson (Mr. Thompson), as well as co-book writer J.F. Lawton and songwriters Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

Pretty Woman: The Musical will arrive on Broadway in August following a world premiere in Chicago this spring. The production will begin performances at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre March 13, where it will play a five-week limited engagement.

The production is directed and choreographed by Mitchell. As previously announced, the new musical will open at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre August 16 after beginning previews July 20.

Based on the 1990 romantic comedy, Pretty Woman: The Musical features a book co-written by the film’s director, the late Garry Marshall, and screenwriter Lawton. The principal cast also includes Kingsley Leggs as James Morse and Jason Danieley as Philip Stuckey.

Completing the cast are Allison Blackwell (The Lion King), Tommy Bracco (Newsies), Brian Calí (Master Class), Robby Clater (Dreamgirls at The MUNY), Jessica Crouch (We Will Rock you National Tour), Anna Eilinsfeld (How to Be Single), Matt Farcher (Disaster!), Lauren Lim Jackson (Motown The Musical), Renée Marino (Jersey Boys), Ellyn Marie Marsh (Kinky Boots), Jillian Mueller (Dirty Dancing), Jake Odmark (Kinky Boots), Jennifer Sanchez (Sunday in the Park with George), Matthew Stocke (The Last Ship), Alex Michael Stoll (American Psycho), Alan Wiggins (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Jesse McGraw Wildman (Dr. Zhivago), and Darius Wright (A Bronx Tale).

The production will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Philip S. Rosenberg, sound design by John Shivers, hair design by Josh Marquette, music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Will Van Dyke, and casting by Telsey + Company.
