Off-Broadway News Whitney White Wins 2018 Susan Stroman Directing Award White is currently represented Off-Broadway with What to Send Up When It Goes Down.

Director Whitney White has been named the third recipient of the Vineyard Theatre’s Susan Stroman Award, presented biennially to early and mid-career directors.

Named for multi-Tony Award-winning director Susan Stroman, the award provides recipients with space, time, and support to develop projects under the wing of the Vineyard Theatre. The award was established in 2013.

Previous recipients include Liesl Tommy (Eclipsed, Kid Victory) and Lee Sunday Evans (Dance Nation, Intractable Woman).

White is a Brooklyn-based artist whose works include What to Send Up When It Goes Down, Rita Tambien, Br'er Cotton, and the upcoming Macbeth in Stride, which will be presented as part of the Under the Radar Festival at the Public Theater.
