Written and directed by the production's Howie Michael Smith (who plays Princeton and Rod in the musical comedy), the series features human and puppet characters who are faced with the murder of (spoiler alert!) Mrs. Thistletwat.
Episode One of "Avenue Clue" had Kate Monster discovering that Mrs. T, the show's crabby kindergarten school principal, has been murdered backstage following a performance of the show. Enter Rod to solve the crime.
In Episode Two, going live Dec. 9, the investigation continues with all the classic elements of murder mysteries: dead phone lines, a venue with no escape and lots of fidgety suspects — and a missing corpse.
Avenue Q, the show about twentysomething puppets and people searching for purpose, won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical. Following its successful Broadway run, the musical is now in an open-ended run at Off-Broadway's New World Stages, 340 W. 50 St.
"Avenue Clue" was created exclusively for Playbill.com. The series is a 2010 Sillyocity production. Featured in "Avenue Clue" are cast members Sarah Stiles as Kate Monster, Nicholas Kohn as Brian, Cullen R. Titmas as Nicky, Ruthie Ann Miles as Second Hander, Hazel Anne Raymundo as Christmas Eve, Jasmin Walker as Gary Coleman, Jed Resnick as Princeton, Rob Morrison as Trekkie Monster and Howie Michael Smith as Rod.
