Wicked alum Jonah Platt, Groundlings actor Greg Worswick, and playwright and screenwriter Liz Meriwether are the latest to join the lineup for the first-ever edition of The 24 Hour Musicals: Los Angeles. Meriwether will team up with playwright and actor Jesse Eisenberg (The Spoils), who is making his debut as a composer and lyricist at the event.

The 24 Hour Musicals: Los Angeles will take place July 17 at the United Artists Theater at Ace Hotel.

The lineup features the previously announced Wayne Brady (Hamilton), Michelle Visage (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Nellie McKay (singer/songwriter), Alex Newell (Glee), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood, Daredevil), Garrett Clayton (Hairspray Live!), Janina Gavankar (True Blood), Alicia Witt (The Walking Dead), Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Shoshana Bean (Wicked), Donna Lynne Champlin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Ashley Fink (Glee), Amanda Seales (Insecure), Andrew Leeds (Bones, Groundlings), Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos), Retta (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), Isabelle Fuhrman (Master of Sex), singer-songwriter Sam Tsui, Herizen Guardiola (The Get Down), Grace Parra (The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore), and Maria Thayer (The Catch, Table 19).

As with the New York edition, the theatrical event sees a team of artists write, compose, rehearse, and perform four original musicals within a 24-hour time period, all in the name of charity.

The funds raised will support the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the freedom of expression on behalf of those confronting censorship on the American stage.

The creative team for the evening will also feature writers Rachel Axler (VEEP), Matt Schatz (Love Trapezoid), J. Holtham (Pitch), Rona Siddiqui (One Good Day), and Tasha Gordon-Solmon (I Now Pronounce); and directors Bart DeLorenzo, Kate Sullivan, and Casey Stangl.

Previously announced playwright Lydia Diamond will be the featured speaker for the evening.

The 24 Hour Musicals is presented by The 24 Hour Plays, which brings artists together to create fast-paced theatre on Broadway and around the world. For more information visit 24hourplays.com.
