The one-night-only event will be part of the "Monday Night Live" series at Second Stage Theatre and begin at 8 PM. Creel earned a Tony Award nomination for his turn on Broadway in Thoroughly Modern Millie. He has also appeared Off-Broadway in The Mystery Plays (for Second Stage's New Plays Uptown series) and currenlty performs in La Cage aux Folles.
Backing Creel will be a band that features Robbie Roth (who has collaborated on songs with Creel), David Cook, Adam Roberts and Gavin Brown. "The Prom Singers" will include Dioni Michelle Collins, Whitney Bashor and Christopher Freeman. "The Prom Dancers" feature Cristy Candler, Jessica Hope, Joey Dudding and Paul Canaan. (Artists are subject to change.)
The show will feature Creel's original works — which he is preparing for a forthcoming Sh-K-Boom album — as well as covers of Michael Jackson, The Pointer Sisters and Chaka Kahn.
Tickets to Gavin Creel: Prom King at Second Stage Theatre, 307 West 43rd Street (just off 8th Ave.) are on sale by phone at (212) 246-4422. For more information, visit www.SecondStageTheatre.com.
