News Wicked's Cates Hosts April 14 New Voices Concert Kristy Cates, who has played the role of Elphaba in the New York, Chicago and national touring companies of Wicked, hosts the April 14 Monday Nights, New Voices concert at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

The 7 PM concert spotlights the songs of Brian Lowdermilk and Kait Kerrigan. Composer Lowdermilk will be on hand to accompany singers on selections from his and Kerrigan's songbook. Those scheduled to perform include Shauna Goodgold, Josh Howell, Melissa Lyons, John Myers and Sarah Statler.

Barbara Anselmi is the evening's musical director and will also be featured on the piano.

The New Voices series was founded by composer Scott Alan to "showcase some of today's brightest new talent in New York." Alan's debut recording, "Dreaming Wide Awake" — which features performances by Liz Callaway, Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Cheyenne Jackson and Jonathan Groff, among others — is available by visiting www.scottalan.net.

Composer Alan and former Wicked star Shoshana Bean will also be featured on LOGO's "CBS News on Logo" program April 14 at 7 PM.

Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk are the authors of Henry and Mudge, The Freshman Experiment, Wrong Number, The Woman Upstairs, The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown and Tales from the Bad Years. For more information visit www.kerrigan-lowdermilk.com. Kristy Cates made her Broadway debut in the ensemble of Wicked, where she was also the standby for the role of Elphaba. She played that role for a year in the Chicago production of Wicked and also starred in the Toronto engagement of the hit musical. Off-Broadway the singer-actress was seen in Boobs! The Musical, and her regional credits include john and jen and Into the Woods. A graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Cates also took part in an evening of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Unexpected Songs at Joe's Pub.
