Wicked's Eden Espinosa Launches Kickstarter Campaign for New Album | Playbill

News Wicked's Eden Espinosa Launches Kickstarter Campaign for New Album Broadway actress Eden Espinosa, who financed her debut solo recording, "Look Around," via Kickstarter, is utilizing the same funding platform for her sophomore recording.

On her official Kickstarter page, Espinosa writes, "I am very excited to announce the launch of my second album! Thanks to your amazing support on the last album, we were able to make a recording that we were very proud of. Not only did it debut in the top 50 on the iTunes Pop Charts, it won much critical acclaim and received several awards including an IMA Vox Populi award for Adult Contemporary Song Of The Year. Now we're back to do it all again! "To make the dream of a second album a reality, we will need the help of our supporters. I was a bit apprehensive the first time I came to Kickstarter to help fund an album but now I can't imagine doing it any other way. The sense of community and friendship that happens when everybody comes together to make art is nothing short of amazing!

"Our plan for this album is to continue building on the sound that we developed during our last project. But this time we're going to amp it up…more energy, more high powered vocals, and maybe even a few more original songs.

"The support that you give will help us to afford the cost of studios, musicians, editing, mixing, mastering, packaging, shipping, and every detail involved in the huge task of making an album.

"I can't wait to do this with you all again. The last time was such an amazing experience and I know that this will be even better!

"Thank you for supporting independent art!"

As of the morning of July 27, 73 backers had pledged more than $10,000 towards a 40,000 goal. There are 23 remaining days (through Aug. 19) to pledge funds for the recording.

Espinosa has appeared on Broadway in Brooklyn, Rent and Wicked.
