On Feb. 27 Gasteyer and Fleisher will share the intimate stage of Joe’s Pub. The 9:30 PM concert, according to press notes, promises “selections from basically every corner of the cannon . . . 70 minutes of music, mayhem and frosty mojitos. Standard, contemporary, original and more: no tune is off limits, no era out-of-bounds.” Best known for her work on "Saturday Night Live," Ana Gasteyer has appeared on Broadway in The Rocky Horror Show and Off-Broadway in The Vagina Monologues and Kimberly Akimbo. She also played Fanny Brice in the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera's production of Funny Girl and was seen in the New York City Opera mounting of Cinderella. Her screen credits include “Reefer Madness,” "Mean Girls," "What Women Want," "Woman on Top," "Dick" and "What's the Worst That Could Happen?" Gasteyer was most recently seen as Elphaba in Chicago’s Wicked and will be part of the Roundabout’s upcoming revival of The Threepenny Opera.
Jazz singer Julian Fleisher composed the music to the current Off-Broadway play Almost, Maine. He also produced Kiki & Herb’s Carnegie Hall CD. Fleisher’s solo recording, “Rather Big,” is available on Modern Records.
