News Wicked's Idina Menzel Sings "Uncharted: Andrew Lippa" Dec. 15 Wicked's not-so-Wicked-Witch-of-the-West, Idina Menzel, will be among the theatre stars singing the works of Andrew Lippa Dec. 15.

The 10 PM concert at the Ars Nova Theatre will feature the vocal talents of Menzel as well as those of Hairspray's Shoshana Bean and The Wild Party's Julia Murney. Lippa, who will be celebrating his birthday, will also be on hand to perform his original tunes, backed by his own "birthday band." Other surprise special guests are also promised.

"Uncharted: Andrew Lippa" kicks off a new monthly series at the Ars Nova Theater, which also presents the free play reading series "Out Loud." The "Uncharted" series will allow upcoming singer/songwriters to perform their original works in front of a live audience.

Andrew Lippa has written the scores for the Off-Broadway productions of The Wild Party and john & jen. He also contributed songs to the Broadway revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

Idina Menzel currently stars in the hit new musical Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. She created the role of Maureen in the original Broadway company of Rent, and her other theatrical credits include the City Center Encores! production of Hair, the Manhattan Theatre Club The Wild Party and the benefit Funny Girl concert. Julia Murney most recently portrayed Eve in the Children of Eden benefit concert for the York Theatre and Florence in the all-star Chess benefit concert for The Actors' Fund of America. She received a Drama Desk nomination for her work in Lippa's The Wild Party, and her other theatrical credits include Crimes of the Heart, Time and Again, A Class Act, Cloud 9, Snapshots and Mata Hari. Shoshana Bean is currently making her Broadway debut in Hairspray. She starred in the national tour of Leader of the Pack and in the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell; she can be heard on the cast recording of the latter.
