The Public Theater celebrated the official opening of the New York premiere of Hansol Jung's play with music, Wild Goose Dreams, November 14. The Off-Broadway production, directed by Leigh Silverman, returns to the Public following an initial run in the Public Studio and an acclaimed engagement at La Jolla Playhouse last season.

In Wild Goose Dreams, two individuals are brought together over the Internet through a shared loneliness and longing to connect. Minsung, played by Peter Kim, is a “goose father,” a South Korean man whose wife and daughter have moved to America for a better life; online he meets Nanhee, played by Michelle Krusiec, a young defector forced to leave her family behind in North Korea.

Completing the cast are Dan Domingues (chorus), Lulu Fall (digital Nanhee/chorus), Kendyl Ito (Heejin/chorus), Francis Jue (father), Jaygee Macapugay (wife/chorus), Joél Pérez (digital Minsung/chorus), Jamar Williams (chorus), and Katrina Yaukey (chorus).

Wild Goose Dreams is playing in The Public’s Martinson Hall, where it continues its extended run through December 16.

The production features scenic design by Clint Ramos, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Keith Parham, sound design by Palmer Hefferan, composition by Paul Castles, Korean music composition by Jongbin Jung, movement direction by Yasmine Lee, and music supervision by Charity Wicks.
