Gregg David Shore directs The Shattering, playing Aug. 16-19 and again Aug. 28-Sept. 2. Opening is Aug. 19 at 7:30 PM.

(Wilhelm's The Hanging of Razor Brown, directed by Merry Beamer, continues Aug. 21-26 at the Off-Broadway complex on East 59th Street.)

In The Shattering of the Golden Pane, "two young misfits meet in a long-abandoned church that was once a rollicking nightclub in the 1940s, and now lies in ruins. [The play] is part ghost story, and part a tale of sexual obsession. Certain events turn the obsession into a heartless story of revenge, as the two tales merge into one tragedy."

The Shattering features Kristin Carter, Mark A. Kinch, Kevin Perri and Kirsten Walsh.

Le Wilhelm returns to 59E59 Theaters for the third year in a row after writing and directing summer 2006's sold-out world premiere of The Death in the Juniper Grove, and Maiden's Progeny, an Afternoon with Mary Cassatt in 2005. His published works include "Eight Plays From the Heartland" and Maiden's Progeny, as well as "The Missouri Trilogy" (Pie Supper, One-Eyed Venus and the Brothers, and Blackberry Frost). He was the recipient of the Florida Council of the Arts grant. Wilhelm, along with producer Kathy Towson, also heads up the award-winning writers workshop RCL. He spends most of his time overseeing the operation of a small Off-Off Broadway company. When not in New York, he is at his farm in Missouri, where he spends time walking the fields and fishing the mountain streams. His play 5:15 Greyhound was recently selected as one of the best plays of the year by Applause Books.

In The Hanging of Razor Brown, "Madame Lecompte takes her three French students for a picnic, dressed in their Sunday best. They choose a grassy knoll that overlooks the town square, where there are balloons, and peanuts, and watermelon, and jugglers, and from the limb of the live oak tree there hangs a noose."

The cast of The Hanging features Nick Giello, John Mervini, Anastasia Morsucci, Tracy Newirth, Jon Oak, Lynn Osborn, Erin Singleton and Jaclyn Sokol.

The performance schedule is Tuesday-Friday at 8:30 PM, Saturday at 2:30 PM and 8:30 PM and Sunday at 3:30 PM and 7:30 PM. There is no Sunday evening (7:30 PM) performance Sept. 2.

Single tickets are $18 ($12.60 for 59E59 members) and are available by calling Ticket Central at (212) 279-4200 or online at www.ticketcentral.com. For more information visit www.59E59.org.
