If Paltrow were to appear on "Glee," she would sing on the series, and her first episode would be directed by her friend and the show's co-creator, Ryan Murphy, who wrote the role for her.

Paltrow received an Academy Award for "Shakespeare in Love." She will also be singing in the forthcoming film "Country Strong." Other screen credits include the "Iron Man" series, "Proof," "Sylvia," "The Royal Tenenbaums," "The Talented Mr. Ripley," "Great Expectations," "Emma" and "Se7en."

The second season of "Glee" begins Sept. 21 at 8 PM ET on Fox.
