Paltrow would play a substitute teacher who takes over Will Schuester's (Matthew Morrison) class when he falls ill. The kids would love her, and even Will will fall for her, throwing a wrench into his relationship with Emma (Jayma Mays).
If Paltrow were to appear on "Glee," she would sing on the series, and her first episode would be directed by her friend and the show's co-creator, Ryan Murphy, who wrote the role for her.
Paltrow received an Academy Award for "Shakespeare in Love." She will also be singing in the forthcoming film "Country Strong." Other screen credits include the "Iron Man" series, "Proof," "Sylvia," "The Royal Tenenbaums," "The Talented Mr. Ripley," "Great Expectations," "Emma" and "Se7en."
The second season of "Glee" begins Sept. 21 at 8 PM ET on Fox.
