The unique concert-like scripted show — in which Scott (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) plays a hyper-theatrical version of her own persona — was a well-reviewed specialty musical (its score borrows from many sources) seen at Off-Broadway's Second Stage.

Tony winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening) directed, and Tony nominee Dick Scanlan (Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Scott wrote it.

A spokesman for Roundabout said on March 26 that Everyday Rapture is among the possibilities for the final show in Roundabout's 2009-10 season, but said no timetable for a replacement has been announced.

Lips Together was to officially open April 29 at the American Airlines Theatre, days before the cutoff date for eligibility for the 2009-10 Tony Awards.

In 2009 at Second Stage, Scott was joined onstage by Eamon Foley, Lindsey Mendez and Betsy Wolfe. Previews began April 7, and the show opened May 3 to positive critical response. The run was originally slated to play through May 31 and extended two weeks to June 14. Everyday Rapture was billed as "the story of a young woman's psycho-sexual-spiritual journey on the rocky path that separates her mostly Mennonite past from her mostly Manhattan future. Her life takes her from the cornfields of Kansas to the clover fields of New York (with a disturbing detour through YouTube)."

Though not defined as a musical or play with music, Everyday Rapture featured songs made famous by David Byrne, George Harrison, The Dap Kings and Judy Garland. Musical staging was by Michele Lynch with orchestrations by Tom Kitt and musical direction by Carmel Dean.

Scott — last seen on Broadway as Ursula in The Little Mermaid — is known for her work in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Aida and The Last Five Years. She has also appeared on stage in Landscape of the Body, Tommy, Rent, Debbie Does Dallas, Faust and Over and Over. With husband Kurt Deutsch, Scott co-founded Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records.
