News Will Young to Reprise Role of Emcee for New U.K. Tour of Cabaret Will Young is to reprise his Olivier-nominated performance as the Emcee in Cabaret for a new U.K. tour of the Kander and Ebb musical in which he starred at the West End's Savoy Theatre in 2012.

The tour will begin performances at London's New Wimbledon Theatre Aug. 28, then continue to Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Bradford, Eastbourne, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Dublin, Oxford, Tunbridge Wells, Hull, Wolverhampton and Brighton, where the run concludes Dec. 8.

Young, the British pop star who won the inaugural series of Pop Idol in 2002 and has since sold over nine million albums, made his West End musical theatre debut in Cabaret. His other theatre credits have included appearing in a production of Noel Coward's The Vortex at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre and starring opposite Judi Dench in Mrs. Henderson Presents.

In a press statement before he first performed the role, he commented, "I am very excited about the challenge of choosing Cabaret as my first musical theatre role. The role of the Emcee is a part I have wanted to play since before I started training at Arts Education in Chiswick when I first moved to London.... After the success of my latest album, 'Echoes' it feels like the perfect time to step back from pop for six months and take on the challenge of story telling in another form and what a story to tell!"

The production is directed by Rufus Norris, who is currently represented at the National Theatre by his production of James Baldwin's The Amen Corner and where he also recently directed Tanya Ronder's Table.

The production is choreographed by Javier De Futos, and designed by Katrina Lindsay. For full touring dates, visit www.kenwright.com.
