Timothy Bond directs the production that officially opens March 31 and will run through April 18 in the Bagley Wright Theatre.
Williams portrays Troy Maxson, with William Hall Jr. as Jim Bono, José A. Rufino as Lyons, Craig Alan Edwards as Gabriel, Kim Staunton as Rose, Stephen Tyrone Williams as Cory, Shiann Rush as Raynell and Esmé DeCoste.
"Set in 1957, Fences," according to Rep notes, "is the story of Troy Maxson, a garbage collector who abandoned his dreams of a baseball career. As black athletes finally begin to be accepted into the major leagues, Troy's son wants to pursue his own ambitions of becoming a professional athlete—but his father has other ideas."
The design team also includes William Bloodgood (scenic design), Geoff Korf (lighting design) and Michael Keck (original music).
Seattle Rep had a long relationship with Wilson, who lived in Seattle for 15 years until his death in 2005. The company is the only theatre to have produced every play in Wilson's ten-play Century Cycle, as well as his one-man work How I Learned What I Learned.
A Broadway revival of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Fences, starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, will begin performances April 14 at the Cort Theatre.
