Come From Away is offering a chance to travel to the remarkable Newfoundland communities at the heart of the new Broadway musical.
Cast
Matthew Murphy

The new Broadway musical Come From Away tells the heartwarming true story of a small Newfoundland town that opened its doors to thousands of strangers in the midst of unthinkable tragedy.

When some 7,000 airline passengers found themselves stranded hundreds of miles away from their loved ones during the events of September 11, 2001, it was the townspeople of Gander, Newfoundland, who brought them home again.

Playbill has partnered with Maxxim Vacations, American Airlines, and Fogo Island Inn to send one lucky winner and a travel companion on an eight-night trip to Newfoundland, where they will be immersed in the culture, music, and breathtaking natural beauty of the province and its people.

Details of the getaway follow:

St. John’s (Two Nights)
St. John’s features vibrantly colored homes, colorful characters and a rich arts community. You will be staying in a downtown hotel close to many live music venues, an eclectic mix of local shops and restaurants and art galleries—it is a combination of the old and new in one of North America’s oldest cities.

Port Rexton (Two Nights)
Port Rexton is a beautiful outport community on the Bonavista peninsula of Newfoundland. Around every corner is a scenic rural community with a rich history shaped by our connection with the sea. There are wonderful options for great dining, theatre or hiking—of note, the award-winning Skerwink Trail offers breathtaking views!

Gander (Two Nights)
In Gander you will visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum to hear more stories of that fateful week following 9/11 and how it shaped the community to this day. Gander has literally been built on aviation history and it was known as the “Crossroads of the World” for being the primary refueling stop for transatlantic flights after World War II.

Fogo Island (Two Nights)
Since opening in 2013, Fogo Island Inn has been featured in Forbes, The New York Times, Travel+Leisure, Condé Nast, and Architectural Digest, to name just a few. It was named to the Condé Nast Gold List in 2015 and 2016. The 43,000 square-foot Inn is perched on stilts and hugs the North Atlantic coastline, affording all 29 suites with floor-to-ceiling views of sea and sky. The Inn is operated as a social business and surpluses are reinvested into the community.
