With comedian/icon Jerry Seinfeld's date with Broadway less than a month away, details on when and how tickets will be distributed remain a mystery. Playbill On-Line learned on June 11 that admission to the Aug. 6-9 concerts would be handled through a lottery. But as of July 10, spokesperson Merle Frimark said that details on the price of tickets, the date they'll be available and who'll administer the lottery were still being worked out.

According to Frimark, one scenario that won't happen is the same-day distribution of tickets. Reports to that effect have been circulating in the media for the past few days. Frimark said they were false.

If the daily inquiries fielded by Playbill On-Line are any indication, demand for the shows at the Broadhurst Theatre will be high. Seinfeld's Broadway stand, titled Jerry Seinfeld Live: I'm Telling You for the Last Time, will have a seven-show run: two shows each on Aug. 6, 7, and 8, possible at 7 and 10 PM, and a final show on Aug. 9, possibly at 9 PM. The last performance will be aired live on HBO. A CD of the event may be released later on.

Marty Callner will produce and direct the evening of stand-up comedy. Seinfeld is the executive producer. The Broadhurst seats 1,186 people.

Seinfeld is preceding the New York concert series with what may amount to the most far-flung pre-Broadway tour in history. He began with a booking in Australia, where he staged a handful of June performances in Melbourne and Sydney. The globe-trotting comic followed that booking with dates in Sweden (July 3-4) and Iceland (July 8-9). Seinfeld is scheduled to make his West End debut doing two stand-up gigs, July 12, at the Palladium. Warmup gigs are also announced for San Antonio (July 17 18 at the Majestic Theatre), Omaha (July 24-25 at the Orpheum Theatre) and Des Moines (July 31-Aug. 1 at the Civic Center).
