News   Withers-Mendes Cancels Joe's Pub Concert
Elisabeth Withers-Mendes, who received a Tony nomination for her performance as Shug Avery in The Color Purple, has canceled her upcoming concert as Joe's Pub.

The acclaimed singing actress was scheduled to perform at the intimate venue Dec. 4 at 7 PM. No reason was given for the cancellation.

Color Purple marks the Broadway debut for Withers-Mendes, who has recorded and performed with such artists as Luther Vandross, Cher, Celine Dion and Henry Krieger. She also penned the song "Emotions," a number-one hit on the Billboard Charts.
