The cast of Madison Square Garden's return production of The Wizard of Oz is following the Yellow Brick Road to a Manhattan Wiz. On Feb 23, noon to 1 PM, members of the cast will appear at the 45th Street/5th Avenue Wiz to celebrate the show's Grammy-nominated CD. That's the same day tickets for the show, which runs May 6-16 and stars Mickey Rooney as The Wizard, go on sale.
Jessica Grove will sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," in costume as Dorothy, and The Lollipop Guild will also perform. Free Wizard of Oz CDs will be handed out to the first 100 people.
Ernie Harburg, son of Wizard of Oz lyricist E.Y. "Yip" Harburg, and his wife, theatre historian Deena Rosenberg Harburg, will be present to accept The Hearts, Brains & Courage Award.
