News Woodard, Allen and French Honored at Feb. 27 Classical Theatre of Harlem Benefit Actors Alfre Woodard, Billie Allen and Arthur French will be honored by The Classical Theatre of Harlem at its second annual benefit on Feb. 27 at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine (1047 Amsterdam Avenue).

Woodard will receive The Josephine Premice Award for Sustained Excellence. Allen, who recently director CTH's revival of Adrienne Kennedy's Funnyhouse of a Negro will get The Rose McClendon Trailblazer. And longtime Off-Broadway stalwart French will be given The Ira F. Aldridge Award for Sustained Excellence in the Theatre. The event will feature a buffet dinner, entertainment, awards, door prizes and a raffle. Since its founding in 1999, the Classical Theatre of Harlem has presented twenty two productions, including August Wilson’s Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Euripides’ Trojan Women, Derek Walcott's Dream on Monkey Mountain, Melvin Van Peebles' Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death and Jean Genet's The Blacks: A Clown Show, which received four 2003 OBIE Awards.
