News Wopat, York, Egan, Brier and Avenue Q Swings Set for the Metropolitan Room A host of Broadway favorites — including Rachel York, Tom Wopat, Martin Vidnovic and more — will be featured at Manhattan's Metropolitan Room in May and June.

One of the highlights will be a reprise of the acclaimed Avenue Q Swings concert, which features Mary Ann McSweeney's jazz-inflected arrangements of tunes from Jeff Marx and Bobby Lopez's Tony-winning Avenue Q score. Among those scheduled to perform are John Tartaglia, Mary Cleere Haran, Kate Shindle, Ann Harada, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, Michael Winther, Lauren Flanigan, Melissa Fahn and Lea Delaria. The May 12 concerts at 7 and 9:30 PM will benefit the Topia Arts Center in Adams, MA.

Other spring offerings follow:

 

 

  • Eric DeCamps will offer Pure Magic Saturdays at midnight beginning May 3. The evenings, according to press notes, put a "contemporary spin on close-up conjuring and is not as far from cabaret as you think."

  • Drama Desk Award winner Rachel York — seen on Broadway in Victor/Victoria and City of Angels — will play one night at the Metropolitan Room May 4 at 9:30 PM. York's concert is simply titled For the Love of It.

  • Cabaret singer Marcus Simeone will offer songs from The Heart May 4 at 7 PM.  

  •  

     

  • Jazz singer singer Annie Ross will perform Tuesdays at 9:30 PM beginning May 6.  

  •  

     

  • Tony-nominated singer and actress Eleanor Reissa will present Eleanor Reissa Sings English May 8 and 15 at 7:30 PM and May 22 at 10 PM.  

  •  

     

  • John Treacy Egan, currently seen in The Little Mermaid, will offer solo shows May 11 and 26 at 9:30 PM.  

  •  

     

  • MAC Award winner Jamie deRoy will bring her acclaimed variety show, Jamie deRoy & friends, to the Metropolitan Room May 14 at 7:30 PM.  

  •  

     

  • Soap actress and former Hairspray star Kathy Brier will offer her new variety show, Kathy Brier and Friends, May 16 and 17 at 10 PM. The evenings will feature Brier and her colleagues from the stage and small screen.  

  •  

     

  • Alexis Gershwin, niece of the famed composing duo, will present Gershwin Sings Gershwin May 21-23 at 7:30 PM and May 24 at 7:30 and 9:30 PM.  

  •  

     

  • Cabaret favorite Jeff Harnar will make his Metropolitan Room debut with a new show May 28-31 and June 5-8. All shows begin at 7:30 PM.

  • Singer-actor Martin Vidnovic will return to the Metropolitan Room June 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 7 PM with his solo evening.  

  •  

     

  • Songs from an Unmade Bed star Michael Winther will perform June 18 and 25 at 7:30 PM and June 23 and 30 at 7 PM. Dan Tepfer is musical director.  

  •
