The 38th season of the performing arts festival is scheduled to run May 23–June 8, 2014, in Charleston, SC.
Ong Keng Sen will direct the American premiere of Facing Goya, which will be conducted by John Kennedy. Anne Manson will conduct Leoš Janáček’s Kát’a Kabanová.
Also among the 2014 season are a new staging of John Adams' opera El Niño, directed by John La Bouchardière and conducted by Joe Miller; and the American premiere of Daphne du Maurier's gothic romance mystery My Cousin Rachel, adapted for stage by Irish writer Joseph O'Connor.
The dance series will include contemporary ensemble Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, two programs from the tap troupe Dorrance Dance, a solo work choreographed and performed by South African dancer Gregory Maqoma and the pop-culture infused Keigwin + Company.
