Stojko is stepping into the role of slick lawyer Billy Flynn for eight performances only through March 23. At the conclusion of his Broadway engagement, Stojko will join the company of Chicago's North American tour for its Toronto engagement, March 26-30 at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

"People think of me as only a skater," said Stojko in an earlier statement. "But what they don't know is that I love musicals. Now I finally have the chance to play a great role in one of the greatest musicals of all times. I'm very excited."

Since the early '90s, Stojko has competed in four Olympics, winning silver medals in 1994 and 1998. He also won three world championships in 1994, 1995 and 1997. He is a seven-time Canadian champion and was awarded the recognition of Canadian Athlete of the Year in 1994. On television, he guest starred as himself on episodes of "The Simpsons" and the Canadian animated series "Chilly Beach." His film credits include "Ice Angel" and choreographing and performing the skating sequences in the 2002 Robin Williams film "Death to Smoochy." In 2010 he released his debut CD, "100 Lifetimes."

He joins a cast that currently includes Anne Horak as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Christopher Fitzgerald as Amos Hart, Roz Ryan as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

The revival of Chicago began life as one of the three annual Encores! presentations offered by City Center. The musical opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in November 1996 where it remained through February 1997. The musical transferred to the Shubert Theatre on Feb. 11, 1997, and played that house through Jan. 26, 2003. The revival reopened at the Ambassador Theatre, its current home, on Jan. 29, 2003. Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.

The Ambassador Theatre is located at 219 W. 49th Street.
