Liz Tuccillo's Joe Fearless, a play for sports fanatics (and the people who tolerate them) begins performances at the Atlantic Theatre on June 1. Directed by Craig Carlisle, the show opens June 19.
The cast includes Fred Benjamin (former NBA player), Michael Campbell (The Sidewalks Of New York, “Drew Carey Show”), Jessica Castro, Charlotte Colavin, Matthew Dawson, Nathan Dean, Julie Dretzin (The Sisters Rosensweig, "Bamboozled"), Michael Ealy, Dan Fogler, Danielle Flora (former Knick City dancer), Eric Ingram, Robert Manning, Matthew McMurray, Sundra Oakley, Blake Robbins, Randy Ryan, Laura Sheehy (former Knick City dancer), Callie Thorne (The Country Club, “Homicide”), and Keith Tisdell. Produced by Pat Blake, Andrew McTiernan, Beth Schacter and Allyson Spellman at the Atlantic (though not an Atlantic production), this world premiere also features music by Keith Middleton and choreography by Taro Alexander.
Joe Fearless tells the story of "one man's obsession with his favorite basketball team, the K9s, on their first trip to the NBA Finals in 25 years."
With the show, the Atlantic Theater "literally becomes the stadium in which the audience experiences the excitement of all seven games of the NBA Finals with Super Fan Joe Fearless," production notes say.
