The world premiere of Martín Zimmerman’s solo play On the Exhale begins previews February 7 at Roundabout Theatre Company. The monologue piece, which examines gun violence in America, stars Marin Ireland (reasons to be pretty), with direction by Tony nominee Leigh Silverman.
On the Exhale is playing in Roundabout’s Black Box Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The show will officially open February 19 and is scheduled to play through April 2.
The newest work from Narcos writer Zimmerman looks at gun violence in American through the unique lens of a liberal college professor pushed to violence, played by Ireland.
Here’s how Roundabout bills On the Exhale: “When a senseless act of violence changes her life forever, a liberal college professor finds herself inexplicably drawn to the very weapon used to perpetrate the crime—and to the irresistible feeling of power that comes from holding life and death in her hands. Peering down the barrel of a uniquely American crisis, she begins to suspect that when it comes to gun violence, we’re all part of the problem.”
The Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre is located at 111 West 46th Street, New York. For tickets and more information visit roundabouttheatre.org.
