News World Premiere of Transport, Directed by Award Winner Tony Walton, to Play Irish Rep The world premiere production of the new musical Transport, featuring a book by "Schindler's List" author Tom Keneally, will play the Irish Repertory Theatre.

Performances begin Feb. 7, 2014, prior to an official opening Feb. 16, and continue through April 6 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage.

"Transport follows the uneasy ocean voyage of Irish women who were sentenced and then exiled to the relatively uninhabited south coast of Australia in the mid-19th Century," press notes state.

Directed and designed by Tony, Oscar and Emmy Winner Tony Walton (Pippin, The House of Blue Leaves), Transport features a book by Keneally and music and lyrics by Larry Kirwan (Liverpool Fantasy). Choreography is by Barry McNabb (Finian's Rainbow). Casting will be announced at a later date.

The creative team includes Walton (set design), Linda Fisher (costume design) and Richard Pilbrow (lighting design). The production stage manager is Christine Lemme.
