Lucie Tiberghien — who previously staged Wright's The Pavilion at the Rattlestick — directed the work. Previews began Feb. 17 for the run scheduled to play the company's downtown home through March 21. The cast of Blind features Cox (Caroline, or Change; Paradise Park; 1995's Company, for which she was Tony-nominated), Numrich (Slipping, The Judgment of Paris) and Slavick (That Pretty Pretty; or, The Rape Play).
"In this contemporary re-telling of Oedipus, a married couple slowly rediscovers the secret they thought they had buried deep within the cavities of their unconscious," according to Rattlestick. "The play explores the blindness of two individuals but also the blindness of a culture that now must confront its own folly."
The design team includes Takeshi Kata (sets), Anne Kennedy (costumes), Matthew Richards (lights), Ryan Rumery (sound) and Eugenia Furneaux-Arends (props). Christian Frederickson provides original music. Melissa Mae Gregus is production stage manager with Rebecca Spinac as assistant stage manager.
Wright has also written the plays Mistakes Were Made, Better Late, The Unseen, Grace, Main Street, Orange Flower Water, Recent Tragic Events, Molly's Delicious and Melissa Arctic. He created the ABC television series "Dirty Sexy Money" and lent his pen to episodes of HBO's "Six Feet Under" and ABC's "Lost" and "Brothers and Sisters."
The 15th anniversary season at Rattlestick will continue with Annie Baker's The Aliens (April 15-May 23). Sam Gold directs a cast of Michael Chernus, Dane DeHaan and Erin Gann.
