News Yale Rep Receives $950,000 Gift to Develop New Stage Works The Yale Repertory Theatre is the recipient of a $950,000 gift from the Robina Foundation, which will support the work of the Yale Center for New Theatre through 2012.

The Yale Center, run by artistic director James Bundy and associate director Jennifer Kiger, will appropriate $600,000 of the funds to support commissioned plays and musicals at Yale over the next four years.

Funding also provides for residencies for playwrights and songwriters during the development of new works. Notable Yale commissions have included the new musical POP! (Maggie-Kate Coleman/Anna K. Jacobs), Compulsion (Rinne Groff) and We Have Always Lived in the Castle (Adam Bock/Todd Almond).

The Robina Foundation previously committed $2.85 million to the theatrical institution in 2008.

Since its founding in 1996, Yale Rep has produced world premieres by David Adjmi, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Lee Blessing, Bill Camp and Robert Woodruff, Maggie-Kate Coleman and Anna K. Jacobs, Christopher Durang, Jules Feiffer, Athol Fugard, Marcus Gardley, Kama Ginkas, Rinne Groff, John Guare, Albert Innuarato, Walton Jones, Adrienne Kennedy, Arthur Kopit, Sunil Thomas Kuruvilla, Wendy MacLeod, Julie McKee, Terrence McNally, Richard Nelson, Suzan-Lori Parks, David Rabe, Keith Reddin, José Rivera, Sarah Ruhl, Sam Shepard, William Styron, Derek Walcott, August Wilson and Doug Wright.
