The label will officially launch Sept. 22 with the previously announced solo disc from Tony winner Alan Cumming, "I Bought a Blue Car Today." Upcoming plans for the new label include discs from Tony winner Chita Rivera, Tony winner Karen Olivo, Christopher Jackson (The Lion King, In the Heights), songwriting/performing duo Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich ("Taylor, the Latte Boy") and Jeremiah James, a member of the all-male vocal quartet Teatro.

Yellow Sound recently signed a distribution deal with Alternative Distribution Alliance, part of Warner Bros. Music.

The goal of the new label, according to press notes, is to "become the 'go to' independent label for passionate, focused performers and composers who seek a partner in the development and creation of notable quality recordings. As a reflection of the unique partnership between Yellow Sound Label and its artists, together they will donate one percent of the profits of all album sales to a charity of the artist's choosing."
