News York's "Mufti" Season to Include Take Me Along, Plain and Fancy and Carmelina The fall "Musicals in Mufti" series at the York Theatre Company has been announced. Take Me Along, Plain and Fancy and Carmelina, which all feature a book by Joseph Stein, comprise the upcoming season, which begins Oct. 13.

Take Me Along, which is based on Eugene O'Neill's Ah, Wilderness! will be presented Oct. 13-15. The musical, which features a book by Joseph Stein and Robert Russell and a score by Bob Merrill, played 448 performances at Broadway's Shubert Theatre from Oct. 1959-Dec. 1960. Michael Montel will direct the "Mufti" staging.

Michael Leeds will direct the next "Mufti" offering, Carmelina, which played 17 performances at the St. James Theatre in April 1979. The musical, about a woman (Carmelina) with a painful secret, features a book by Alan Jay Lerner and Joseph Stein and a score by Burton Lane (music) and Lerner (lyrics) with additional lyrics by Barry Harman. Carmelina will be presented at the York Oct. 20-22.

The fall "Mufti" season will conclude with Plain and Fancy, the 1955 musical that played 461 performances at the Mark Hellinger Theatre. With music by Albert Hague, lyrics by Arnold B. Horwitt and a book by Joseph Stein and Will Glickman, Plain and Fancy will play the York Oct. 27-29.
