A "Behind-the-Scenes Summer Workshop" for children 12-17 will be held at the Santa Monica Playhouse July 27-Aug. 30. The emphasis will be on teaching backstage skills ranging from lighting and sound to house management.

The teaching staff comprises members of Actors Repertory Theatre, the resident professional acting company at the Playhouse. Members will be involved behind the scenes from first rehearsal to the actual backstage running of a complete theatrical production, working at a theatre where their peers are actually teaching and performing professionally.

The workshop sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through the summer. Enrollment is limited and acceptance is by interview only.
