Performances of Straight White Men began June 30, marking the first time an Asian-American female playwright was produced on Broadway. The production officially opened July 23.

Set in a white, middle-class family home during the holidays, the play follows Ed and his three adult sons who come together to celebrate Christmas over board games and takeout.

The cast is made up of Armie Hammer, Kate Bornstein, Paul Schneider, Josh Charles, and Ty Defoe, all making their Broadway debuts, as well as Stephen Payne, who plays Ed.

The production features scenic design by Todd Rosenthal, costume design by Suttirat Larlarb, lighting design by Donald Holder, sound design by M.L. Dogg, choreography by Faye Driscoll, and casting by Telsey + Company.

Straight White Men was originally produced Off-Broadway at the Public Theater (and directed by Lee) in 2014. The play has been staged around the country and the world.

The next 2ST production to move into the Hayes will be the revival of Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song, beginning October 9.
