News Young Vic to Get Homebody/Kabul and Jude Law

The Young Vic is to stage an Elizabethan classic and a twenty-first century play as part of its sping season.

From March 7 to April 27 there will be a Young Vic and Natural Nylon Theatre Company production of Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus, directed by the Young Vic's artistic director, David Lan, while from May 10 until June 22 Cheek by Jowl and the Young Vic Theatre Company in association with New York Theatre Workshop will present Tony Kushner's controversial new play, Homebody/Kabul, directed by Declan Donnellan. Donnellan directed the currently running Off-Broadway production of the four-hour play.

Dr. Faustus will be given some film star cachet in the person of Jude Law. Law is, if not exactly a regular then certainly a committed performer at the Young Vic, where he most recently appeared in 'Tis Pity She's A Whore, and will, through his lead role in Faustus, remind London theatregoers that as well as a leading screen actor he is also one of the most charismatic stage performers of his generation, who has had notable successes with the National (Les Parents Terribles, which also introduced Broadway audiences to Law) and the RSC (Ion) as well as at the Young Vic.
