Broadway News Zach Adkins Joins Cast of Anastasia on Broadway Derek Klena, who originated the role of Dmitry in the stage adaptation of the 1997 animated film, departed the production March 25.

Zach Adkins begins performances as Dmitry in the Broadway production of Anastasia March 27 at the Broadhurst Theatre. Adkins succeeds original cast member Derek Klena, who played his final performance March 25.

Due to illness, Vicki Lewis will begin performances as Countess Lily a few days later than previously announced. Lewis takes over for Caroline O’Connor, who departed the Broadway production to star in the upcoming London revival of The Rink.

The cast also features Christy Altomare as Anya, John Bolton as Vlad, Max von Essen as Gleb, and Mary Beth Peil as the Dowager Empress.

Anastasia, based on the animated film of the same name, features a book by Terrence McNally, a score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics), and direction by Darko Tresnjak. The production opened on Broadway in April 2017.
