News Zanna, Don't! Star Heads to the "Broadway Spotlight" Dec. 1 The Broadway Spotlight Series, which presents concert evenings with stars of the musical theatre, continues Dec. 1.

Anika Larsen, who received a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for her performance in Zanna, Don't!, will take centerstage at the Ars Nova Theater Dec. 1 at 8 PM. Larsen has titled her show Shafrika, The White Girl.

According to a release, Anika, who was nicknamed Shafrika by her family, "wonders just what shade of white she is, having grown up surrounded by Black, White, Asian, Latino and Native American siblings. Told through music just as eclectic as this familial mix, Anika shares her witty perceptions on just how tricky it’s been figuring out how to be 'Shafrika, The White Girl.'"

Past participants in the series include Les Miz’s Lauren Kennedy, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley, former Rent-ers Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel and Funny Girl's Leslie Kritzer.

Anika Larsen starred Off-Broadway in Zanna, Don't!. She also appeared on Broadway in Rent as well as in that show's national tour.
