An all-star cast will lend their voices to a special concert screening of Disney’s animated Beauty and the Beast at the Hollywood Bowl. The event, featuring a live orchestra as the 1991 film plays, will take play May 25 and 26 at the Los Angeles venue.
Zooey Deschanel will star as Belle, with gospel singer and The Voice alum Anthony Evans as the Beast. Among those joining them are Tony winner Jane Krakowski as Mrs. Potts, Broadway alums Kelsey Grammer as Lumiere and Taye Diggs as Gaston, and Pitch Perfect favorite Rebel Wilson as LeFou.
Richard Kraft will serve as concert director, who was at the helm of the Hollywood Bowl’s previous concert screening presentations of The Little Mermaid(which featured Wilson as Ursula), La La Land, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Composer Alan Menken won an Oscar for Original Score for his work on the Disney film, as well as an additional win for the title song with his late, frequent collaborator, lyricist Howard Ashman.
Conductor Michael Kosarin will lead the orchestra, principals, and choir through the film’s memorable numbers. The event will also feature Evans performing “Evermore,” a new solo for the Beast written for the 2017 live action adaptation (featuring lyrics by Tim Rice).
