Julia Murney
Julia Murney

Julia Murney — current star of Broadway's Wicked — fills out Playbill.com's new questionnaire with random facts, backstage trivia and pop culture tidbits.

Full given name: Julia Kathleen Murney
Hometown: born in State College, PA; raised in Manhattan
Zodiac sign: Capricorn
Audition song: for the longest time, "Imagine My Surprise" from Personals
Monologue you can recite from memory: Hunyak's monologue in "He Had It Comin'" from Chicago (I did it at summer camp and I never forgot it)...not very helpful when you're going in for Shakespeare in the Park
First Broadway show ever saw: Mack and Mabel (I was very young — my dad was in it)
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? the original Streetcar Named Desire, Dreamgirls (although I saw it, I would love to see it again), anything with Barbara Cook
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Grey Gardens
One CD you couldn't live without: Joni Mitchell "Blue"
Last book you read: "The Jane Austen Book Club" - just started "Water for Elephants"
Must-see TV show: I love "30 Rock," but I'm not gonna lie — I do enjoy "Judging Amy" and "Law and Order" on TNT in the daytime. And most things on the Food Network
Last good movie you saw: "Little Miss Sunshine"
Favorite reality show: "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" because there's no competition, just goodness
Pop culture guilty pleasure: all things Beyoncé
First stage kiss: Shawn Levy (now a big-time movie director) in West Side Story at Stagedoor Manor summer camp — I was Anita, and that is some scary videotape
Favorite post-show meal: a piece of candy from my bowl
Pre-show rituals: a quick stretch, a deep breath, and a reminder to forgive myself for any screw ups
Worst missed cue/onstage mishap: When I was on the road with Wicked, I forgot my hat at a very pivotal hat moment and left the cast hanging onstage with no music while I raced back to my dressing room . . . there was also a time during The Wild Party when the set broke down and Brian d'Arcy James, Taye Diggs and I had to totally restage the penultimate scene as we went along.
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? I was a waitress with information on SVU, an appeals attorney with information on Plainwrap L&O, and a bitchy co-op owner with information, attitude and issues on CI
Special skills: I make a mean pancake and I'm a pretty good baker
Cats or dogs? doggies
Who would play you in the movie? Billy Porter
