Hit Show Ticket Tips

Many sold-out and high-selling shows on Broadway have greater availability at specific performances. Here are the best ways to secure some of Broadway's "hot tickets."

Tracy Letts' (Bug, Killer Joe) take-no-prisoners family saga comes to Broadway after a critically acclaimed run at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
August: Osage County
*Tuesday evening (7:30 PM), Wednesday matinees (2 PM) and Wednesday evening (7:30 PM) have the best availability. The show moves to the Music Box Theatre on April 29.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
* Tuesday (7 PM) and Wednesday (2 PM and 8 PM) performances have the greatest availability.
Grease
* Thursday (8 PM) and Sunday (2 PM and 7 PM) performances have the best availability for orchestra seating.
* Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have the best availability for mid-mezzanine seating.
Hairspray
* Tuesday (7 PM), Wednesday (2 PM and 8 PM) and Thursday (7 PM) have the best availability.
Jersey Boys
* Tuesday evening (7 PM) and Wednesday evening (8 PM) have the best availability.
* Check for tickets on Sunday or Monday when an additional week of shows goes on sale.
* Premium seats are often available after the regular-priced seats are gone.
The Little Mermaid
* Tuesday evening (8 PM), Wednesday evening (8 PM) and Thursday evening (8 PM) have the best availability.
The Lion King
* Wednesday evening (8 PM) and Thursday evening (8 PM) have the best availability.
* The cancellation line forms two hours before every performance.
Monty Python's Spamalot
* Tuesday through Thursday evenings at 8pm and Sunday evening at 7pm performances have the best seats available.
* $36.50 rear balcony tickets are sold for all performances.
South Pacific
* A cancellation line forms in the theatre's lower lobby on the day of each sold out performance. Cancellation tickets may be released throughout the day, up to curtain time.
Wicked
* Sunday matinee (3 PM) has the best availability.
* Partial-view seats are available for many performances.
