PLAYBILL.COM'S CUE & A: Matthew Morrison

By Ernio Hernandez

Matthew Morrison

Matthew Morrison — who co-stars in the current Broadway revival of South Pacific — fills out Playbill.com's questionnaire with random facts, backstage trivia and pop culture tidbits.

Full given name: Matthew James Morrison
Hometown: Cypress, California
Zodiac sign: Scorpio
Audition song: Legit song is "On the Street Where You Live"; when I have to pop it up a little I go with "Rocket Man"!
Special skills: It used to be breakdancing, but as I've gotten older my body has been disagreeing with some of the moves!
First Broadway show ever saw: Actually on Broadway...Miss Saigon
Current show you have been recommending to friends: I loved In the Heights.
Favorite show tune: "The Ballad of Booth," from Assassins. It just takes you on a great journey.
MAC or PC? People still use PC's?
Most played song on your iPod: "Arms of a Woman," by Amos Lee
Last book you read: "Born Standing Up," by Steve Martin
Must-see TV show: "24"
Last good movie you saw: "Goonies!" I probably watch it once a month...
Favorite board game: Cranium
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Ethan Hawke
First stage kiss: Erica Callahan in Babes in Toyland when I was in 5th grade!
Favorite post-show meal: I love going over to O'Neil's on 64th St. after the show for their chicken plate....yummmm
How you got your Equity card: Broadway production of Footloose when I was 19.
Worst onstage mishap: In A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, I had this rant about how I thought my real parent were gymnasts. I was saying this to my adopted father, played by Richard Thomas, and we literally stopped the show because we were laughing our asses off. We just thought it was so ridiculous. I was crying from laughing so hard that I had to put a couch pillow over my face.
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? I played Chance Slaughter on "L&O Criminal Intent." It was great because Malcolm McDowell played my Dad and also Michael Berresse was in the episode.
Cats or dogs? Allergic to cats, so dogs!
Favorite cereal: Gotta have my Lucky Charms,
Who would play you in the movie? My best friend Brian, because he knows me the best.
Worst job you ever had: Bartended by myself for one night and the place was slammed! I never went back.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: I loved doing "Once Upon a Mattress" because I got to be in a musical for TV. And I was in Vancouver for three months working and hanging out with a ton of people that I highly respect.
