PLAYBILL.COM'S CUE & A: Carly Jibson

By Ernio Hernandez
16 Apr 2008

Carly Jibson

Carly Jibson — who is featured in the new Broadway musical Cry-Baby — fills out Playbill.com's questionnaire with random facts, backstage trivia and pop culture tidbits.

Full given name: Carlena Yvonne Jibson
Hometown: Muskegon, MI
Zodiac sign: Leo
Audition song: Depends — most of the time I sing "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin.
First Broadway show ever saw: Dance of the Vampires, seriously!
If you could go back in time and catch any show, what would it be? Well, I would have liked to see Songs for a New World and Last Five Years.
Current show you have been recommending to friends: August: Osage County
Favorite show tune: I could no sooner pick a favorite star in the sky.
Most played song on your iPod: "Into the Mystic," Van Morrison and "Damaged," Danity Kane
One CD you couldn't live without: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Last book you read: "Eat, Pray, Love"
Must-see TV show: "Rock of Love 2" and "The Hills"
Last good movie you saw: "La Vie En Rose"
Favorite card game: Euchre
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Bob Dylan or Margaret Cho
First stage kiss: Joseph… Dreamcoat
Favorite post-show meal: Salty peanuts and M&M's
How you got your Equity card: Hairspray tour
Worst flubbed line: I blanked out in the middle of "I Can Hear The Bells" once; I literally just went to la la land and when I came back I heard myself singing but could not remember where, so I started making things up that rhymed with the last thing I said which I thought was bells....so I said.....bla bla bla....smells........
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? HAHAHAHAHA. I have been in for them like six times, all different editions and they never hire me. I mean I'm not sure what that says about me, but that question made me laugh.
Worst costume ever: Oh, I have had lots — mostly in community theatre as a kid.
Cats or dogs? I have a silky terrier named "Chloe" after my fave designer
Favorite cereal: Fruit Loops
Worst job you ever had: I trained to work at a posh downtown restaurant for one day as a waitress. The owner was a nightmare and was very rude and degrading so I quit before I began!
What leading-lady role have you been dying to play? Wow, I mean I thought Hairspray would be it for me as far as dream roles go, but I am open to anything. My dream would be a role that was written for me that features a comedic and improvisational side.
