Founded in 1947, the Actors Studio quickly became one of the preeminent institutions to
emerge in the field of theatre arts. Under the direction of Lee Strasberg, Elia Kazan and Cheryl Crawford, actors such as Al
Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, James Dean, Anne Bancroft, Jack Nicholson and a host of others
emerged as the leading performers of their day. Today under the artistic direction of Estelle Parsons, the Actors Studio
continues the traditions set by Strasberg in developing quality works and training actors in their craft.
