ADAM GUETTEL (Music and Lyrics, Orchestrations) LCT: The Light in the Piazza (Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Music and Orchestrations). Mr. Guettel lives in New York City. His work includes Lydie Breeze at the New York Theatre Workshop, a collaboration with John Guare on Love’s Fire for The Acting Company and Saturn Returns: A Concert at the Public Theatre/New York Shakespeare Festival. Saturn Returns has been recorded by Nonesuch Records under the title Myths and Hymns and was released in March of 1999. Four of Mr. Guettel’s songs are featured on Audra McDonald’s 1998 Nonesuch Records release Way Back to Paradise. His works also include music and lyrics for Floyd Collins (also on Nonesuch Records), at Playwrights Horizons in 1996 and at the Goodman Theatre in 1999; the score for Arguing the World, a feature documentary by Joe Dorman recently at the Film Forum, New York, and the score for Jack, a two-hour documentary for CBS by Peter Davis in 1994. Mr. Guettel is the recipient of the Stephen Sondheim Award (1996), the Lucille Lortel Award (1996) and the ASCAP New Horizons Award (1997). He would like to thank the U Cross Foundation, Sundance Theater Lab, The Intiman, The Goodman, and Lincoln Center Theater for bringing this piece to life.
