FRED SAIDY
FRED SAIDY (1907-1982) was born in Los Angeles and educated in New York, where he studied journalism at NYU. He began his theatrical career writing screenplays, including Star Spangled Rhythm, Meet the People and the Red Skelton comedy, I Dood It. With Yip Harburg, Mr. Saidy also wrote the books for the Broadway musicals Bloomer Girl, Flahooley, Jamaica and The Happiest Girl in the World. In 1968 he wrote the screenplay for the film adaptation of Finian’s Rainbow.
